MONTCLAIR, NJ — Telling a good story is harder than it sounds. In fact, it’s an art form, according to the Montclair Film Festival (MFF).

Staff at the MFF recently announced a unique, recurring event for locals who think they have what it takes to tell a good tale, the new “StorySlam.” The recurring program, open to the public, gives contestants five minutes to tell their best story. Learn more about the StorySlam events here.

A panel of judges declares a winner at the end of each event. The first contest is slated for Saturday, Jan. 27, and has a theme of “My First Time.” More events on Feb. 17 and March 24. There will also be a special evening for Young Storytellers held on March 18.
