Montclair Film Fest 2019: Mindy Kaling, Colbert On Tolkien
One of the "coolest film festivals in the world" is returning to Montclair with some special guests including Mindy Kaling/Stephen Colbert.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — One of the “coolest film festivals in the world” is returning to Montclair for 2019 with some special guests, including Mindy Kaling, Stephen Colbert, Nicholas Hoult and Lily Collins.
As per the norm, the Montclair Film Festival has attracted some major star power for this year’s incarnation. Recently, festival organizers gave a sneak preview of what’s in store for cinema lovers this year, including guest appearances from Mindy Kaling, who will appear for a Q&A session after the screening of “Late Night” on Saturday, May 4, as well as perennial festival supporter Stephen Colbert, who will dish with the director and stars of “Tolkien” on Tuesday, May 7.
The 2019 Montclair Film Festival will take place from Friday, May 3 to Sunday, May 12. The full 2019 line-up will be announced on April 5. Tickets for Montclair Film members go on sale on April 8, with public tickets onsite April 12. Learn more about the festival and upcoming events here.

Some highlights this year will include:
- The festival will open with a screening of Tom Harper’s WILD ROSE, with star Jessie Buckley attending for a post-screening Q&A
- Director Timothy Greenfield-Sanders will attend the screening of TONI MORRISON: THE PIECES I AM, the festival’s closing film
- Writer and star Mindy Kaling will attend the festival’s screening of LATE NIGHT, starring Kaling and Emma Thompson (Kaling will participate in a post-screening Q&A, moderated by Stephen Colbert)
- The festival’s documentary centerpiece, MILES DAVIS: BIRTH OF THE COOL, will feature a pre-screening performance by students from Montclair Film’s partners Jazz House Kids, and a post-screening Q&A with director Stanley Nelson
- The screening of TOKIEN will be followed by an extended Q&A with stars Lily Collins and Nicholas Hoult, and director Dome Karukoski, moderated by Stephen Colbert (in a first for the festival, the Q&A will be simulcast live from the Montclair Film Festival into theaters across the country in conjunction with simultaneous advance screenings of the film)
