Montclair Firefighters Douse Smoldering Couch

Several Montclair firefighters and trucks responded to a report of a smoky apartment on Bloomfield Avenue.

Several Montclair trucks and firefighters responded to a Bloomfield Avenue apartment on Sunday.

Montclair Fire Chief John Herrmann told Patch that several fire trucks and engines arrived at the third-floor apartment to find that a smoldering couch was causing a smoke condition.

Firefighters used a water extinguisher to douse the smoldering area.

The resident refused medical attention and the incident is under investigation, Herrmann said.
