Montclair, NJ – A local youth displayed a small but inspirational act of goodwill this holiday season when he made a donation to the Human Needs Food Pantry in Montclair.

According to a social media post from the food pantry, Oliver Miedel and his mom Justine Olderman paid the nonprofit a visit at its Label Street location on Tuesday.

The goal? To donate a Tzedakah Box - or pushke - which he created in Hebrew School to collect money for the poor.

According to the food pantry, whenever Miedel found coins on the street, he added them to the collection. In addition, when people visited his home, he asked them to put some coins in it too.

“[Miedel] said that he ‘thinks about the food pantry’ because he and his mom drive by all the time and he sees the people who come for food,” the Human Needs Food Pantry wrote. “We applaud this fine young man for being so caring and thank his mom for helping to raise a new generation of young people who care for the needs of others.”
