Montclair Gas Station Worker Threatened With Knife: Police

Montclair police arrested a local resident after he allegedly threatened a gas station worker with a knife, authorities said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair police arrested a local resident after he allegedly threatened a gas station worker with a knife last week, authorities said.

According to the Montclair Police Department, officers responded to the Exxon Gas Station on Bloomfield Avenue on Thursday, finding Van Ray, 49, of Montclair, following an employee who was trying to “retreat” from the situation.

Officers found an orange-handled razor blade in Ray’s possession, police said.

Police charged Ray with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and aggravated assault.
