A 12-year-old girl in Montclair reported a possible luring incident involving a man in a utility van to police last week, authorities say.

Montclair, NJ – A 12-year-old girl in Montclair reported a possible luring incident to police last week, authorities said.

According to the Montclair Police Department, the incident took place around 10 p.m. on March 11 as the youth was walking on Midland Avenue near Brunswick Road.

The girl told police that a man drove up next to her in a black utility van with rear barn doors and told her to “get in.”

She told police that she responded “No,” then ran home, authorities stated.

The youth said that the man sounded “middle-aged” based on his voice.
