Montclair High Club Donates $500 To Hospital
The Blue Scrub Club, for students interested in healthcare careers, donated money to Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center

MONTCLAIR, NJ —Students from Montclair High School's Blue Scrub Club donated $500 to the Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center's Pastoral Care department, the medical center announced last month.
According to a press release, the Blue Scrub Club is designed for students interested in pursuing a career in the medical field. At the club's regular meetings, medical professionals come to speak about their education, career journey and daily routine.
Students also provide financial and material donations to local healthcare organizations, and volunteer their time at local healthcare facilities.

Representatives from Mountainside Medical Center have said they will continue to work with the club, helping to educate the students about healthcare careers. They also will welcome Montclair students interested in volunteering and offer opportunities to shadow medical professionals.
"It is important that we engage with the younger generation who have an interest in healthcare and assist them in finding their career path," said Tim O'Brien, chief executive officer at Mountainside Medical Center. "Healthcare organizations have many moving parts and we want to show students the various pathways in which they can have a successful career in healthcare."

According to the hospital website, the Pastoral Care department provides compassionate, spiritual and emotional care to patients, families, caregivers and staff of all faiths, or of no faith tradition. The department's professional chaplains offer counseling, crisis intervention and offer prayers and blessings before medical procedures, births and deaths.
