MONTCLAIR, NJ — A burglar recently hit a home in Montclair, eventually making his getaway with two expensive bottles of champagne – and apparently a surveillance camera, police said Tuesday.
According to the Montclair Police Department, the burglary was reported on Aug. 27 on Melrose Place. Here’s what happened, authorities said:
“The residents reported that after returning from vacation, they discovered a surveillance camera within the home’s kitchen was missing. After checking the ‘cloud,’ they discovered that at 5:31 a.m., a tall, thin male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, black shoes, gloves and a mask – and carrying a flashlight – entered the kitchen from an exterior door. Once inside, the individual wanders around the house, eventually leaving with two bottles of champagne.”
Each bottle was valued at approximately $200, police said.
