Montclair Home Burglarized; Attempted Invasion Reported: Police

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A home in Montclair was burglarized last week. Then, three days later, another attempted home invasion was reported, police announced Tuesday.

The Montclair Police Department released the following statements about the incidents.

Oct. 21 (Buckingham Road) – A resident reported that her home was burglarized between October 18 and October 21 while she was away. It is unknown how entry was made, as it did not appear to have been forced. The second-floor bedrooms were ransacked and an undetermined amount of jewelry was taken, police said.

Oct. 24 (Undercliff Road) – A resident called 911 to report two people attempting to gain entry into his vehicles and residence. The resident was alerted to the attempt by his home surveillance. The suspects were described as a man wearing a black sweatshirt with white lettering on the back, a black facemask, and red/white gloves. The second suspect was a man wearing a light-colored sweatshirt. They attempted to enter three of the homeowner’s vehicles, however they were all locked and entry was unsuccessful. The suspects then attempted to enter the residence, however, the doors were also locked. The suspects then fled to an awaiting silver SUV and fled the area, police said.
