Montclair Hotel Pays Overdue PILOT Fees, Fines: Report
Prior to the payment, The MC Hotel had not remitted its payment in lieu of taxes since 2020, a report said.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — A hotel in Montclair has paid delinquent property taxes remaining under its payment in lieu of taxes (PILOT) agreement, avoiding a tax lien sale that would have taken place in November, a report says.
In April, Montclair Local reported that The MC Hotel had not paid its PILOTs since 2020. It owed $691,003 for 2021 plus interest, and had not paid the first-quarter payment of 2022.
All the outstanding PILOT payments, delinquent interest and penalties were paid on July 7, a town official said. The amount paid — $1.24 million — includes the first and second quarter 2022 payments, Montclair Local reported.
