Montclair High School Rowing wraps a historic 2026 championship season with an extraordinary showing at the nation’s two most prestigious scholastic rowing events, the Stotesbury Cup Regatta in Philadelphia and the Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) National Championships in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

The combined results represent Montclair’s strongest performance at the sport’s premier championship regattas since 2018 and further cement the program’s standing as one of the most successful public school rowing programs in the United States.

At the 99th Stotesbury Cup Regatta, the world’s largest high school rowing competition, Montclair earned three medals against the deepest field in scholastic rowing. The Women’s First Varsity 8+ successfully defended its title, capturing a second consecutive Stotesbury Cup Championship. The Men’s First Varsity 8+ claimed silver, while the Women’s Junior 4+ and Men’s Freshman 8+ earned bronze.

The momentum continued the following weekend at the SRAA National Championships, where Montclair crews once again rose to the occasion against the nation’s fastest scholastic programs. The Men’s First Varsity 8+ captured the SRAA National Championship, while the Women’s First Varsity 8+ and Women’s Varsity Lightweight 4+ each earned bronze medals to secure podium finishes.

“Our athletes have shown extraordinary commitment, resilience, and competitive maturity all season long,” said Montclair Head Coaches Jeremy Michalitsianos and Lorna Rundle. “To perform at this level on the biggest stages in scholastic rowing is a testament to the work they put in every day, both on and off the water.”

The championship results add to what has already been a landmark season for Montclair Rowing. Earlier this spring, the Mounties captured multiple titles at the New Jersey State Championships, Cities Championship, and Cooper Cup Regatta, continuing a tradition of excellence that has defined the program for more than two decades.

The season is not yet over. Montclair’s men’s and women’s varsity 8s now turn their attention to the USRowing Youth National Championships in Sarasota, Florida, where they will compete against the nation’s leading youth and club programs. The Men’s First Varsity 8+ will also take its success to the international stage after earning a bid to compete at the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta in England, one of the world’s most iconic and historic rowing competitions and a premier destination for the sport’s elite crews.

Montclair High School Rowing is one of the nation’s premier public school rowing programs. The team has captured 26 Stotesbury Cup Championships, 14 SRAA National Championships, 11 Mid-Atlantic Youth Championship titles, and numerous state and regional championships. Montclair athletes have gone on to compete at many of the country’s most prestigious universities and have represented the United States at the highest levels of international competition through the USRowing pathway system.

As one of country’s most accomplished scholastic athletic programs, Montclair Rowing continues to build upon a championship legacy defined by excellence, teamwork, and an unwavering commitment to the sport. More than a source of medals and titles, the program has become a point of pride for the entire Montclair community, representing the very best of what student-athletes can achieve when talent, dedication, and opportunity come together.
