Montclair Jazz Icon Christian McBride Wins 8th Grammy Award
During his multi-decade career, McBride has appeared in hundreds of recordings and played alongside some of jazz's biggest names.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A jazz icon in Montclair captured his eighth Grammy Award on Sunday.
Christian McBride, a master bassist and composer, is no stranger to the Grammy Awards, although he still gets a kick out of the star-studded event, as seen on a Twitter post he sent from the gala.
His latest victory was earned with “For Jimmy, Wes and Oliver,” a studio album by McBride and his big band. It topped the “Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album” against other efforts that included:

During his multi-decade career, McBride has appeared in hundreds of recordings and played alongside some of jazz's biggest names, including Sonny Rollins, Dave Brubeck, McCoy Tyner, Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny and Freddy Hubbard, as well as pop stars ranging from James Brown to Sting and Carly Simon. McBride also serves as the artistic director at local nonprofit, Jazz House Kids, and got a big congratulations from them after his Grammy victory on Sunday.
