In Montclair: Large DeCamp Oil Spill / Coin Collection Theft / Stolen GMC Denali / Burglarized Construction Equipment

Police Blotter: Aug. 25 to 31

Editor’s Note: The following incidents are reprinted directly from the Montclair police blotter, a listing of selected incidents that may not include the full scope of activity in the area. All of the following incidents are accusations, and all suspects should be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

8-25-2015 (Dodd Street) - Theft from a motor vehicle. A purse and wallet were taken from the passenger seat of the vehicle.

8-26-2015 (Russell Terrace) - Burglary to a residence under construction. A compressor, miter saw and tile saw were taken. Entry was gained by kicking in a rear door.

8-26-2015 (Hawthorne Place) - Burglary to a residence. A coin collection was taken in this incident.

8-27-2015 (North Fullerton Parking Deck) - Vandalism to a vehicle. A windshield wiper arm was bent and a tire slashed on a Hyundai Elantra.

8-29-2015 (Walnut Place) - Attempted burglary to a residence. The suspect attempted to gain entry by pushing in a window air conditioner, but was unsuccessful.

8-29-2015 (Tennis Place) - Theft of a blue GMC Denali. This vehicle later eluded East Orange Police. The keys had been left in this vehicle.

8-29-2015 (Watching Plaza) - Theft of a bicycle from the parking lot bike rack. It had been secured with a cable lock.

8-31-2015 (Forest Street) - Theft of a delivered package from the front porch of a residence.

8-31-2015 (Grove Street at Mount Hebron Road) - Large oil spill from a DeCamp bus engine. MFD and Nutley Hazmat responded to the scene. DeCamp bus company contacted a private environmental cleanup company to respond and clean up the spill. No oil is believed to have contaminated the storm drain system.
