Montclair At-Large Council Seat Is Up For Election, Town Accepting Petitions
The 2026 general election will take place on Tuesday, Nov. 3.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair voters will get to cast ballots for an open councilor-at-large seat in the 2026 general election.
The Township of Montclair recently released the following advisory for local residents who are considering a run for office:
“Montclair residents interested in running for the Councilor-At-Large seat must be a registered voter in the Township of Montclair and have been a resident of the Township at least one year as of November 3, 2026. Nominating Petitions together with an information packet are available in the Office of the Township Clerk during normal business hours (8:30 A.M to 4:30 P.M), Monday through Friday (except holidays). Prospective candidates must first appoint a campaign treasurer and designate one campaign depository before accepting or expending any monies in connection with the forthcoming General Election. This is done by filing the name of the campaign treasurer and campaign depository with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission (ELEC). For further information regarding campaign contributions and expenditures, contact ELEC at 609-292-8700 or visit https://www.elec.nj.gov. Kindly contact the Office of the Township Clerk at 973-509-4900 for further information regarding Nominating Petitions for the Office of Councilor-At-Large.”
