Montclair Library Foundation Has New Chair, Board Members

The Montclair Public Library Foundation congratulated Sheila Boyd, Jennifer Amore, James Cotter, Veronica Harris and George Oliphant.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Montclair Public Library Foundation recently announced the appointment of four new directors to its board and the installment of a new board chair: Sheila Boyd.

The nonprofit had this to say about its new chair:

“Sheila Boyd, who joined the board in October 2021, steps into the chair role with a proven track record in human resources and advocacy. Having worked with NPR, Microsoft, and now Disney, Sheila has been a vital asset to the Board, leading efforts in advocacy, social media, and board development. Her leadership and experience make her a natural fit for this new role.”

Jennifer Amore – With a background in government and corporate strategy, Jennifer Amore brings a wealth of experience to the Board. Previously serving at the U.S. Department of Labor and now as Vice President of Global Strategy at American Express, she is committed to equity and community service. Jennifer is already an active member of the Lit Gala Committee and has a long history of supporting literacy initiatives.

James Cotter – A dedicated educator and activist, James Cotter has taught history for 28 years and contributes as a writer and creative director. His extensive community involvement includes organizing the Montclair July 4th parade and advocating for electoral integrity. James's deep-rooted connection to Montclair will bring valuable perspective to the Board.

Veronica Harris – A seasoned consultant and coach, Veronica Harris specializes in talent management and strategic implementation. Her career spans corporate training and educational leadership, with a focus on problem-solving and team management. Veronica’s experience and passion for community service will be instrumental in advancing the Foundation’s mission.

George Oliphant – Known for his work on NBC’s Emmy-winning show “George to the Rescue,” George Oliphant is a multifaceted TV personality and skilled contractor. His background in entertainment and real estate, combined with his community involvement, will bring a unique perspective to the Board.

“We have an ambitious year ahead, highlighted by the upcoming Lit Gala in May 2025,” said the nonprofit’s executive director, Mary Packer.

“Our board is a working board, and we will need all hands on deck to meet our goals,” Packer added. “I’m confident that this talented group is up for the challenge.”
