Montclair Makos Shine at Dare to Dream Tournament
YMCA of Montclair Water Polo Team Competes in Regional Multi-Team Tournament
The Montclair Makos youth water polo team had a strong showing at the Dare to Dream tournament in Ambler, Pennsylvania, on February 7–8, competing in combined teams alongside Princeton and Navy. The collaborative format created an exciting and competitive environment, allowing athletes to gain valuable experience while facing high-level opponents.
The Princeton/Makos combined team delivered an impressive performance, winning all four of its games against Norco, Brooklyn Hustle, Agua, and CT Premier. Makos players Theo Kelsch, Owen Brown, and Ariyan Kaushik represented the club on the Princeton/Makos roster, contributing to a weekend defined by strong teamwork, disciplined play, and resilience. The team finished the tournament undefeated.
The Navy/Makos combined team also competed with intensity and focus, earning wins against SFY Tsunami, New Haven Hydras, and WCAC United, and tying SwimRVA in a hard-fought match. Makos players Patrick Meier, Leyla Bhatt, and Lily Boeshore played on the Navy/Makos roster, showing strong competitive energy throughout the weekend.
Looking ahead, the Makos spring season officially kicks off on March 2, with a roster of 25 players. Momentum heading into the season is high, following an extremely successful new player clinic. The clinic allowed the program to fill any remaining roster spots while introducing new athletes to the Makos training environment and culture.
