Montclair Man Accused Of Sex Assault At North Jersey Hotel
A Montclair man has been accused of sexually assaulting someone he met through an online dating app last year, authorities said.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — A Montclair man has been accused of sexually assaulting someone he met through an online dating app last year, authorities announced Wednesday.
According to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, Fokam Parfait, 25, of Montclair, assaulted a 28-year-old at a hotel on Meadowlands Parkway in Secaucus in September 2022.

“On Thursday, March 30, 2023, the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit was notified that a 28-year-old victim reported being sexually assaulted at a hotel on Meadowlands Parkway in Secaucus on Saturday, September 10, 2022. The victim sustained head and facial injuries and was prevented from leaving the hotel room during the course of the assault. Parfait met the victim through an online dating app.”
Parfait was charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2a(6), a crime of the first degree; Aggravated Assault in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:12-1b(1), a crime of the second degree; and Kidnapping in violation of N.J.S.A. 2C:13-1b, a crime of the first degree.
He was arrested on Tuesday at the Bergen County Jail, where he is currently being detained on similar charges, prosecutors said.

The state has filed a motion for detention, which is tentatively scheduled for May 1, prosecutors said.
