Montclair Man Arrested After Fatal Shooting In Bergen County
A woman was shot in the head in Ramsey. Police apprehended the accused shooter in Montclair, prosecutors said.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — A Montclair resident was arrested and charged with murder after a fatal shooting in Ramsey on New Year’s Eve, prosecutors say.
According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, police in Ramsey responded to 101 Williams Street at 7:25 p.m. after getting a report about a homicide. Officers found a deceased 41-year-old woman at the scene with a gunshot wound to her head.
An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Ramsey Police Department identified Luis A. Suarez, 41, of Montclair, as a suspect in the shooting.

Authorities arrested Suarez in Montclair on Sunday.
Suarez has been charged with first-degree murder and second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He has been remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack pending his first court appearance.
