Montclair Man Convicted For Fatal Shooting Of College Student

The Montclair slaying took place off Valley Road in 2012 and may have been drug-related, according to authorities.

A Montclair man accused of shooting to death a Villanova University student in town last year was convicted by an Essex County grand jury on Monday.

The jury found Ernest Williams Jr., 24, guilty of aggravated manslaughter, robbery and related offenses in connection with the 2012 killing of Brian Schiavetti, NJ.com reported.

Williams was acquitted of a murder charge, NJ.com stated.

Williams was accused of killing Brian Schiavetti of Ridgefield, Conn., who was found shot multiple times in an apartment building on William Street just off Valley Road in 2012.

Authorities had stated that the murder may have happened during a drug-related robbery.
