Montclair Man Dies In Essex County Car Crash

Rabbiel Williams, 32, of Montclair, died in a two-car crash in Irvington that injured two others, authorities say.

ESSEX COUNTY, NJ — A Montclair man died in a car crash in Irvington late Friday evening, authorities say.

Irvington police officers responded to the scene of a fatal crash involving a Honda and a BMW on the 700 block of Springfield Avenue around 10:46 p.m., according to a joint statement from Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers.

On arrival, officers found the driver of the Honda unresponsive. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police later identified the victim as Rabbiel Williams, 32, of Montclair.

Emergency responders transported the injured driver and passenger of the BMW to a local hospital where they were treated and released, prosecutors said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation and no charges have been filed at this time, according to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office.
