Montclair Mayor Interested In US Education Secretary Job: Report
Sean Spiller is one of the many names being floated for the cabinet seat, which is currently occupied by Trump nominee, Betsy DeVos.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — It’s uncertain who President-elect Joe Biden will choose to replace Betsy DeVos as the next U.S. Secretary of Education. But Montclair Mayor Sean Spiller – who also serves as the vice president of the New Jersey Education Association – is making the rounds for the job, according to a report.
Spiller has notified the New Jersey federal delegation and Gov. Phil Murphy that his name may be floated, Politico reported Tuesday, citing sources familiar with the process.
“I'm honored to even be mentioned for the position,” Spiller told Politico. “Nonetheless, my focus is on my advocacy for the students of New Jersey and serving the residents of Montclair.”
