Montclair Mayor Withdraws Board Of Education Appointments

Robert Jackson has withdrawn his nominations for Joe Kavesh, Jevon Caldwell-Gross and Franklin Turner.

Montclair, NJ – Montclair Mayor Robert Jackson has withdrawn his appointments to the Board of Education.

Jackson’s surprising move to remove his three appointees to the board - Joe Kavesh, Jevon Caldwell-Gross and Franklin Turner – came an hour prior to Monday’s public BOE meeting.

The mayor told TAP into Montclair that the three outgoing board members - David Deutsch, Robin Kulwin and David Cummings - would remain until replacements could be found.

Jackson appointed Kavesh, Caldwell-Gross and Turner to the board in April.

Monday’s BOE conference was scheduled to be a reorganizing meeting where Kavesh, Caldwell-Gross and Turner would be officially instated as board members.

Instead, in the wake of Jackson’s announcement, the Montclair BOE reorganizing meeting has been rescheduled to Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 6:30 p.m.
