Montclair Obituary: Mary King, School Crossing Guard

The lifelong Montclair resident was a school crossing guard for more than 20 years at Watchung and North Fullerton.

Lifelong Montclair resident Mary King passed away on Nov. 5.

She was 83-years-old.

“Mary E. King, 83, of Montclair, N.J., passed away on November 5, 2015.

“Born in Montclair to the late Thomas and Vincenza Earley, she was a life-long resident. She graduated from St. Vincent’s School of Nursing in 1951 and was a baby nurse. More recently, she was a school crossing guard for over 20 years, keeping a watchful eye on her post at Watchung Ave. and N. Fullerton Ave. in Montclair.

“Predeceased by her parents and husband, Donald R., she is survived by her loving children, Elizabeth Shipyan (George), Thomas, Donald R., Jr., and Rosemary Chappell (Keith), eight grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

“In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Johns Hopkins Children Center, 750 East Pratt St., Suite 1700, Baltimore, MD 21202, on the memo line, please write NICU-Mary King.”
