Montclair Op-Ed: Vote In Municipal Election On May 14 (Here's Why)

The League of Women Voters of the Montclair Area urges all registered voters to vote in the upcoming Montclair municipal election on May 14. In this election, voters will choose their next mayor and vote for an entire new slate of town council members. Each of Montclair’s four wards will elect a new town council member, and all citizens will vote for two at large council members. Altogether there are 15 candidates on the ballot running for seven seats.
Among the many issues that candidates and citizens have identified as important in this election are fiscal responsibility and budget priorities; affordable housing; environmental concerns; government transparency and communications with constituents; senior citizen concerns; school funding; aging infrastructure; and public safety.

The League of Women Voters of the Montclair Area held a recent forum at which all town council candidates discussed various issues that are significant in this election (watch video below, or view it online here).
The League of Women Voters of the Montclair is nonpartisan and urges everyone to get out and vote on May 14 and to encourage friends and family to do the same. Polls are open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m. Registered voters can get a vote by mail-in-ballots ballot until May 7, and the mail-in ballots must be postmarked no later than May 14.
