UPDATE: Montclair Pedestrian Killed, Police ID Victim

Authorities are investigating a fatal pedestrian crash that left a Montclair man dead on Wednesday night.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, a vehicle struck Jamie Vuignier of Montclair around 7 p.m. as he was walking in the area of Hawthorne Place and Elm Street.

Emergency responders transported the 48-year old man to Mountainside Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:40 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene, authorities stated.

As of Friday morning, no charges had been filed against her but an investigation is ongoing, prosecutors said.

TAP Into reported that the crash took place when a SUV jumped a curb and struck the victim.
