Montclair Pharmacy Worker Scares Off Would-Be Burglar: Police

An employee was alone at a Montclair pharmacy when he heard a noise coming from the rear doors. Here's what happened next, police said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A would-be burglar fled the scene when a worker at a Montclair pharmacy scared them off last week, police announced Tuesday.

The Montclair Police Department released the following details about the incident, which took place at the CVS on Claremont Avenue on Friday:

“The lone employee of CVS reported that the store was closed and he was in the rear break room, when he heard a noise coming from the rear doors. Upon investigating, he observed an individual trying to pry the door open. The individual then fled the area after the employee announced himself. The individual never gained access inside of the warehouse.”

Police said the suspect was about 5 feet 8 inches, and was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with a black book bag. The worker wasn’t able to see the person’s face or see any other details.
