Montclair Police: 2 Car-Pedestrian Strikes Cause 4 Injuries

Montclair police are investigating two pedestrian-car strikes that took place in the township on the same day, authorities say.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair police are investigating two pedestrian-car strikes that took place in the township on Friday, authorities say.

A vehicle hit a 61-year-old woman and a 63-year-old woman – both from Nutley – as they crossed the street near the intersection of Valley Road and Bellevue Avenue around 1:55 p.m. police said.

The pedestrians were not in a crosswalk at the time of the collision; emergency responders treated both for pain on the scene, authorities said.

Earlier that day around 11:52 a.m., a vehicle traveling westbound near the 400 block of Bloomfield Avenue hit a 29-year-old female and a 55-year-old man as they attempted to cross the street, police said.

The pedestrians were allegedly attempting to cross Bloomfield Avenue in the middle of the block, away from an intersection or crosswalk, Montclair police stated.
