Montclair Police Arrest 2 After Shooting On Planchet Drive

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair police have arrested two people in connection with a shooting that took place during a robbery near Planchet Drive last week. A 25-year-old man from Elizabeth suffered a bullet wound to the abdomen and was hospitalized after the shooting, police said.

According to authorities, a passerby who came across the injured man placed a 911 call to the Montclair Police Department on April 29. Montclair officers arrived on the scene around 10:53 p.m. to find a man with a single bullet wound to the abdomen.

Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital. He was in stable condition as of Wednesday afternoon, police said.

After conducting an investigation, on May 1, Montclair police arrested two people in connection with the shooting: Daevon Saunders-Roberts, 20, of Montclair, and Quanaisa Owens,18, of Elizabeth.

Authorities charged Saunders-Roberts with Robbery, Conspiracy, Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose.

Authorities charged Owens with Conspiracy.

Montclair police continue to investigate the incident, authorities said Wednesday.

The shooting on Planchet Drive took place less than a week after a fatal stabbing on Hartley Street claimed the life of Akirah Townes, 20, of Orange, a student at Kean University.
