Montclair Police Searching for Attempted Carjacker
A woman was robbed during an attempted carjacking in Montclair
A woman and her daughter were the victims of an attempted carjacking and robbery in Montclair on Tuesday evening.
The attempted carjacking and robbery occurred on the second level of the North Fullerton Parking Deck shortly after 6 p.m., according to a news release from Montclair Police. The victims were a 40-year-old Bloomfield woman and her 8-year-old daughter, who was sitting in the vehicle at the time of the incident.
The woman said she had just parked her vehicle, a Nissan Pathfinder, and was removing her daughter from the car, when she was grabbed from behind by the suspect, police said in the news release. The man demanded her car keys and pointed a silver handgun at the woman.

After the woman struggled with the attempted carjacker, the man stole her Coach purse and fled the scene down the south stairwell, the news release reported.
According to Montclair Police, the robbery suspect was described as a black male, dark skin, 30 to 35 years old, six-feet tall, medium build, and wearing a ski mask, black coat with a gray hooded sweatshirt underneath, black and white wool hat with a pom-pom on top, white sneakers and blue jeans.
