Montclair Police Seek Hatchet-Wielding Masked Robber
Montclair police are looking for a man who allegedly rushed into a local café brandishing a hatchet and demanding money.

Montclair, NJ – Montclair police are looking for a man who allegedly rushed into a local café brandishing a hatchet and demanding money on Tuesday evening.
According to the Montclair Police Department, the incident took place around 8:03 p.m. at Café Clair on Watchung Avenue.
“The suspect entered the store brandishing a hatchet and demanded money from the register,” police stated in a release. “He then told [a female] store employee to lay flat on the floor. The suspect then fled the scene on foot. The employee was alone in the store at the time of the incident.”

Police described the suspect as about 5 feet 8 inches with a medium-to-heavy build, and wearing a black coat with a black hood over his head, dark green/grey pants, white gloves, black boots and a black face mask.
No injuries were reported and the total proceeds are unknown at this time, police stated.
