Read books for a good cause!

Montclair, N.J. - During the month of January, the Montclair Public Library is challenging residents to read and log 600 books and 2,500 minutes as part of the first Winter Reading Challenge. “We know you can do this Montclair,” said Library Director Peter Coyl. “Let’s show the rest of the country how we rise to a challenge!”
Over 100 libraries and schools across the nation will be part of the Winter Reading Challenge. If the nationwide goal is met, "Shark Tank" investor Mark Cuban will donate $25,000 to "First Book," a nonprofit that provides new books, learning materials, and other essentials to children in need.“Our Summer Reading Challenges are always a lot of fun and a great way to get the community reading, so we are really looking forward to bringing this type of challenge into the Winter” said Jill DeMarco, Adult Services Librarian. “We are especially excited to be working towards an end goal that will help children in need”. The challenge is open to all ages. Those interested can register at montclairpubliclibrary.beanstack.org beginning December 15, and may start logging books/minutes on January 1.
