Montclair Readers, Library Meet ‘Winter Reading Challenge’
It took 235 readers, 841 books and 11,158 minutes, but Montclair has risen to the Winter Reading Challenge.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — It took 235 readers, 841 books and 11,158 minutes. But the Montclair Public Library and its patrons have done their part to rise to the “Winter Reading Challenge.”
According to a news release from the library, if all the more than 90 libraries participating in the challenge meet their goals of reading at least 1.3 million minutes and 55,000 books in January, entrepreneur Mark Cuban will donate $25,000 to First Book, a nonprofit that provides new books to children in need.
“Because this exceeds our original goal of reading 600 books and 2,500 minutes during January, we are eligible for a $10,000 grant from Beanstack, a software platform that promotes reading,” Library Director Peter Coyl said.
