In Montclair: Remember To Register For Primary Election
The League of Women Voters of the Montclair Area urged local voters to register before the May 20 deadline.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Did you register to vote in the 2025 primary election? The clock is ticking down if you haven’t, the League of Women Voters of the Montclair Area recently noted.
According to a news release:
“The League of Women Voters of the Montclair Area urges all unregistered voters to register by May 20 to enable them to vote on Primary Day. To check your registration status, find out how to register and other voting information, go to vote411.org. The results of the vote on Primary Day will determine which candidates will run for New Jersey governor and the New Jersey Assembly. If you are unaffiliated, you can claim a party on the day of the election at the polling location.”
Montclair voters will join others across New Jersey on June 10 when they head to the polls for this year’s primary election.

Democratic and Republican candidates will compete for their party’s nomination. The winners of the primary will face off again in the general election on Nov. 4, which will also include third-party and independent candidates.
The Essex County Clerk’s Office recently released sample ballots for each town and city, including Montclair. A ballot draw was held for governor and Democratic Statehouse races.

Montclair voters won’t face any local choices in the primary, but will get to cast ballots for governor and two state Assembly members in the 27th district. Voters will also cast ballots for county clerk (both candidates are running unopposed).

The voter registration deadline for the primary election is May 20.
Early voting for the primary election will take place from June 3 to June 8 in Essex County. Voting hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. >> See Early Voting Locations In Essex County For 2025 Primary Election
