Montclair Republicans Back Booker Challenger In 2020: Hirsh Singh
The Montclair Republican Club has thrown its support behind "non-politician Hirsh Singh." He's challenging Sen. Cory Booker in New Jersey.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Montclair Republican Club has thrown its support behind “non-politician Hirsh Singh” in his quest to unseat U.S. Sen. Cory Booker in 2020.
Earlier this month, the club announced it planned to host an event with Singh, an Atlantic City native who is running as a Republican against Booker. Singh had to cancel, but has made other recent appearances in Montclair, including a visit during the town's annual Independence Day parade (see below).
On his website, Singh says that he “will support legislation to grow the economy, protect our culture and protect us physically.”

“New Jersey sends over $140 billion a year in gross tax revenue to Washington D.C. — yet we receive less than $100 billion back,” Singh asserts. “That’s a larger deficit than our entire state budget. If you send me to Washington, I will fight to bring home the prosperity we deserve and rebuild our state.”

Singh earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering science, biomedical tissue engineering and material science from the New Jersey Institute of Technology in Newark.
He recently offered a statement about Newark’s ongoing lead water crisis on his Facebook page:
“Shame! Newark, NJ has a Water-Lead crisis that looks just like Flint, Michigan. Newark has voted Democrat for decades and though the good citizens have ensured the success of Mayors like Cory Booker here is another example of neglect. Cory Booker used Newark to propel himself into the Senate to run for President. Clean water is the most fundamental requirement. Booker said nothing for over a year but now that the lead contamination has been exposed he's trying to take political cover with a pathetic statement. Booker opposes the President at every turn and now is begging for help. The lead issues have been known for over a year now! Why has he been silent till now!!?? This must be investigated immediately.”
