Montclair Republicans Offer Scholarship For ‘Conservative’ Teens

What's the proper approach to U.S. immigration policy? A "conservative" answer to this question could score a Montclair HS student $1,000.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Are you a Montclair High School student with a “libertarian or conservative philosophy?” You might have $1,000 waiting for your future education, courtesy of the Montclair Republican Club (MRC).

On Thursday, the MRC announced that it will award a “competitive scholarship” for $1,000 to a MHS senior for use at a university or college - including a community college - or technical school.

According to the MRC:

“Montclair Republicans’ message is one of hope, opportunity, liberty, responsibility and perseverance. To these ends, the club seeks to support young people who articulate a libertarian or conservative philosophy, and a commitment to national growth and strength, to the U.S. system of government, and to private-sector and free-market ideals.”

Does that sound like you or someone you know? Then you’d better be ready to demonstrate your “conservative” ideals with a 400-500-word essay about one of the following topics:

  • What would you consider to be the proper approach to U.S. immigration policy?
  • Do you believe that the Electoral College system should be preserved, modified or eliminated, and why?
  • Do you believe that the Affordable Care Act of 2010 should be preserved, modified or eliminated, and why?
  • Discuss the following proposition: “All individuals are entitled to equal rights, justice and opportunities, and should assume their responsibilities as citizens in a free society.”

Full scholarship criteria, submission requirements and application can be found at https://montclairrepublican.wordpress.com/scholarship/. The deadline for application is April 1, 2018. For more information, email montclairrepublicans@gmail.com
