Montclair Resident Catches 2 Burglars Smashing Window: Police
Montclair police apprehended two burglary suspects after a resident allegedly caught them smashing in his window, authorities said.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair police apprehended two burglary suspects last week after a resident allegedly caught them smashing in his window, authorities said.
According to the Montclair Police Department, officers responded to a report of a burglary in progress on Ferncliff Terrace on Monday, Aug. 5.
After a foot chase, officers arrested two suspects. Henry Smith, 28, of Maplewood, was apprehended on Stanford Place. Nyedair Parker, 27, of Paterson, was apprehended on Columbus Avenue.

Smith was found to be in possession of a “multi-tool.” Parker was found to be in possession of marijuana; police didn’t specify the amount.
The victim later told officers that he woke around 8 a.m. when he heard a loud crash. When he went to investigate, he discovered that a first-floor window of his home had been smashed. It appeared as if someone had reached into the window, authorities said.

When the victim saw two males on his porch, he called out to them and they ran away, police said.
Authorities charged Smith with burglary, receiving stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and resisting arrest.
Authorities charged Parker with burglary, receiving stolen property, possession of under 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, hindering arrest and resisting arrest.
