A Montclair resident told police that he saw someone outside of his bedroom door holding a flashlight. Here's what happened next.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — A Montclair resident scared off a home intruder on Tuesday, authorities say.

According to the Montclair Police Department, a Sunset Park resident said he was sleeping on the second floor of his home when he saw someone outside of his bedroom door holding a flashlight. The resident yelled at the person, who ran downstairs and out of the house.

The intruder apparently entered the home through a first-floor window, authorities said.

The resident was unable to provide a description of the suspect, police noted.
