MONTCLAIR, NJ — The residents of a three-story home in Montclair evacuated themselves during a two-alarm fire on Sunday, authorities said.
The Montclair Fire Department got multiple calls from neighbors about a fire on Inwood Avenue around 1 p.m. On arrival, firefighters found flames coming out the rear windows of the first floor and extending up to the second floor.
The fire was located on the first floor of the home, but also made its way into the wall voids and spread to the other floors. There were “varying levels of damage” on all three levels, with the first floor sustaining the most damage, officials said.
