Montclair Residents Self-Evacuate From House Fire: Officials
Montclair units extinguished the fire with aid from West Orange, Bloomfield, East Orange, Orange, Verona and Cedar Grove.

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The residents of a home on Miller Street managed to self-evacuate from a house fire last weekend, but one of them suffered a minor injury in the process, authorities said.
According to the Montclair Fire Department, firefighters responded to a fire at a Miller Street house at 11:19 a.m. on Sunday. When they arrived, fire units found heavy flames coming from the second floor from a front and side window.
All of the occupants self-evacuated the home before firefighters arrived on the scene, authorities said.

One person suffered a minor injury. Emergency responders transported them to a nearby hospital for treatment. There were no fire department injuries, authorities said.
The blaze caused heavy fire and smoke damage to the second floor and water damage to the first floor, authorities stated.

Montclair units extinguished the fire with aid from West Orange, Bloomfield and East Orange fire crews. Units from Orange, Verona and Cedar Grove covered the township for the duration of the incident.
The last units cleared the scene at 3:30 p.m.
