Montclair Residents Self-Evacuate From House Fire: Officials
The Bloomfield FD helped their Montclair peers combat the blaze. Firefighters from West Orange, Clifton and Caldwell covered the town.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — The residents of a Montclair home self-evacuated from a house fire without injury on Friday morning, authorities said.
The Montclair Fire Department said it received a call about a fire at a Central Avenue home at 10:50 a.m.
When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found flames coming out windows on the second floor. The occupants of the home all self-evacuated beforehand; none were injured, authorities said.

Firefighters entered the house and extinguished the conflagration, which caused heavy fire and smoke damage to the second floor and water damage to the first floor. None of the crew suffered injury, authorities said.
The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist with relocation, the Montclair Fire Department stated.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, officials said Friday.
A unit from Bloomfield helped to bring the fire under control, while units from West Orange, Clifton and Caldwell covered the township for the duration of the incident, authorities said.
