Montclair Restaurant With Gluten-Free Options Closes Due To ‘Skyrocketing Lease’: Report

MONTCLAIR, NJ — As of last week, Montclair’s restaurant scene is now a little less cozy.

Michael Awad, the owner of The Cozy End on Valley Road told Baristanet that he decided to close his restaurant – which has been in town under various owners since 1969 and has become known for being a gluten-free option for local diners – due to the “skyrocketing lease cost” and his inability to pay the rent.

The restaurant’s website reads:

“Since 1969, The Cozy End has been dedicated to quality and family service. We are excited to continue our tradition of preparing fresh foods and having our guests dine in a comfortable, cozy, and family oriented atmosphere. To ensure that your dining experience is a pleasurable one, we will be happy to prepare your favorite dish as long as the ingredients are available. That is just one of the ways we can thank you for your consistent support and show you how much we appreciate your patronage.”
