Montclair, NJ – A word of warning, Montclair residents… ask for credentials when someone shows up at your home asking to be let inside.
The Bloomfield Police Department posted the following announcement via social media on Wednesday:
“Please spread the word, on 2/8/16 Montclair police had a report of suspicious activity. An elderly woman stated that two men were in her home claiming to be from the Montclair Water Dept. The suspects asked to check her water due to some reports of tainted water in the area. She allowed the two males in to her kitchen where one male turned on the faucet. The same male then asked her where her water meter was and she escorted him in to the basement. She stated that she got a suspicious feeling about the male and left him in the basement to call her son. She advised both males that her son was on his way and the males left very quickly.. The only description that she could provide was two Hispanic males, appx 30-35 y/o, 5’7” in height. One male was light-skinned the other was darker-skinned. One was possibly wearing a brown work jacket. It does not appear that anything was taken from the residence at this time.”
