MONTCLAIR, NJ — It was a “grand” day in Montclair last week for the students who use the Watchung Playground and Field Hockey and Boys Lacrosse Field.
A group of school staff, town officials, local school athletes and their families gathered for a much-anticipated grand reopening ceremony at the field on Feb. 16.
The field is located at the corner of Garden Street and North Fullerton Avenue.

According to the district website:
“The event was an opportunity to come together to commemorate the culmination of three years of dedication and hard work to expand the space so children can enjoy the new playground equipment and Montclair High School athletes (Boys’ Lacrosse and Field Hockey) can safely play on the new, regulation turf field.”
“Seeing the community coming together, especially children and athletes, was heartwarming,” Superintendent Jonathan Ponds said in a recent letter to the community.
