Montclair School Superintendent On COVID-19: 'Health Is Priority'
Superintendent Jonathan Ponds offered an update on Montclair's efforts to weather the coronavirus pandemic.
MONTCLAIR, NJ — Montclair’s public school superintendent offered an update on the district’s efforts to weather the coronavirus pandemic on Friday.
The Montclair Public School District was one of several in Essex County that decided to start the school year with all-online classes due to the COVID-19 crisis. Earlier this month, officials hit the brakes on a plan to reopen with hybrid classes – including some in-person learning – due to a recent "community spread" of the coronavirus.
The district will have to continue with all-online classes “until it's safe to change course,” Superintendent Jonathan Ponds said.
