Montclair Schools Move Ahead With Bond Referendum Plan

Montclair School Superintendent: "Once the state approves the applications, we will develop the bond issue for placement on a ballot."

MONTCLAIR, NJ — The Montclair Public School District is moving forward with a plan to finance a series of building improvements with a bond referendum.

Superintendent Jonathan Ponds gave an update on the process Friday. He wrote:

“At its Feb. 2 meeting, the [Montclair Board of Education] approved a resolution for a $90,000 contract with Parette Somjen Architects (PSA). This is a pivotal step for the district in that it enables us to move building projects forward for inclusion in a bond referendum. PSA will complete and submit project applications to the [New Jersey Department of Education] for review and approval of district-wide facility improvements by May 2022. Once the state approves the applications, we will develop the bond issue for placement on a ballot. This is indeed exciting news.”
