Montclair Shelter, Pit Bull Mate Team Up For Block Party

The "Our Pound In Town" block party will take place near the Montclair Animal Shelter on April 10.

Montclair, NJ - The Montclair Township Animal Shelter and Pit Bull Mate will team up to host an “Our Pound in Town” block party on Sunday, April 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on North Willow Street between Claremont Avenue and Walnut Street.

“The block party will be a way for the community to learn more about the shelter and all the services we provide,” Shelter Director Niki Dawson stated. “We’ll also be showing off our wonderful shelter pets who are looking for their forever homes.”

According to a township news release, Montclair businessman and creator/owner of Pit Bull Mate Jeremy Pholwattana is a major sponsor of the “Our Pound in Town” block party.

Pholwattana will be on hand to answer questions about pit bulls and the pit bull owners community he helped develop through pitbullmate.com -- an online service designed specifically to bring awareness to the breed and to connect shelters, owners, and foster owners in an interactive setting.

Local vendors and friends will provide food, beverages, ice cream, balloons, children’s activities, a DJ and a band.

The “Our Pound in Town” block party is made possible with support from Jeremy Pholwattana and Pit Bull Mate, the Montclair Girl Scouts, Joey Thai, Pure Pita, Bella Gente, Paraiso, Laboratorio, Wood Pit BBQ, Let’s Yo, Gelotti, In The Company of Yum, Doin’ Dishes, Uptown Art, Paint Mix NJ, The Grooming Gallery, Intrepid Gym Montclair and Connect One Productions.

The Montclair Township Animal Shelter is municipally run and governed. It provides animal care and control for the townships of Montclair, Verona and Nutley. It intakes stray animals and pets whose owners are unable to keep them (only for residents of the above stated townships), and offers adoption services.
