Montclair Socialists, Republicans Gear Up For July Fourth Parade

Who will manage to attract more supporters at this year's July 4th parade in Montclair... the Socialists or the Republicans?

MONTCLAIR, NJ -- Who will manage to attract more supporters at this year's July 4th parade in Montclair... the Socialists or the Republicans?

Both the Montclair Republicans and the North Jersey Socialist Party have stated that they plan to march at the town's annual Independence Day Parade on Tuesday, July 4.

The 2017 parade begins at 11 a.m. along a 1.6-mile route traveling west on Bloomfield Avenue to Midland Avenue, continuing to Watchung Avenue, west to Valley Road and ending at Edgemont Park, where the annual Family Picnic will be held.

The Montclair Republicans issued a Facebook challenge for their supporters to "outnumber" the Socialists at this year's parade on Saturday.

"March with Montclair Republicans on Tuesday, July 4, at 10 a.m. We'd like to outnumber Montclair Socialists this year. Join our team for a win."

Here's what the Socialist Party wrote about their planned presence at the event:

"Join members of the Socialist Party of New Jersey at the Montclair 4th of July parade. We're kicking off our campaign for democratic socialism. Educate Agitate and Organize!Gather at starting at 10 a.m. in "Serial # 3" which meets on So. Fullerton between Union St. & Hawthorne... All members and supporters of the Socialist Party USA are welcome to join us."
