Montclair State, Bloomfield College Advocates Push For 'Equitable Funding' In Trenton

Faculty, staff and students traveled to New Jersey's State Capitol to request increased funding.

Faculty, staff and students traveled to New Jersey’s State Capitol on Tuesday, March 25 to request increased funding for both Montclair State University and Bloomfield College as part of Montclair and Bloomfield Day at the Capitol.

The group met with representatives to showcase how the educational opportunities they’ve received are changing their lives, and the impact the funding would make on students for generations to come.

Bloomfield student Ethan Garcia, a junior from Bloomfield, testified before the Assembly Budget Committee and shared his personal story of how the institution is helping him achieve his dreams.

“I can solemnly say that my experience at Bloomfield College of Montclair State University has been life-changing and consider myself to be proof that my school is succeeding in its mission to serve its students by providing them with the opportunity and resources to advance in our economy,” said Garcia. “It is a lifeline and launchpad for many others that share my story, a place where anyone, regardless of their background, can succeed.”
