Montclair State: Rt. 46 Traffic Change Due To NJDOT Work

MONTCLAIR, NJ — Commuters heading to Montclair State University this week via Route 46 may have a slight change of traffic plans, the school announced Monday.

MSU officials wrote that the New Jersey Department of Transportation plans to close the Route 46 eastbound Clove Road exit/entrance ramp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 24 until Thursday, July 26.

“During this closure you will not be able to exit Route 46 eastbound onto Clove Road or access Route 46 eastbound via Clove Road,” the university stated on its website. “They do not anticipate any closure at the intersection of the Overlook access road and Clove Road.”

According to MSU, here’s how to get to school if you’re taking Route 46:

• To access the main campus from Route 46 eastbound: Detour to the next exit – Valley Road south. Enter the main campus either from the entrance off Valley Road or make a right turn at the Normal Avenue traffic light and enter the campus either at College Avenue or Carlisle Road.
• To access the Overlook Corporate Center from Route 46 eastbound: Detour to the next exit – Valley Road south. Make the immediate first right-hand turn after the exit ramp onto Oak Hill Road (Caution: this is a sharp turn. Note: the above map does not show this available access.). Then take the first right-hand turn on to the Overlook access road.
