In a step toward returning to a more normal life, the University on Tuesday offered its first on-campus COVID-19 vaccination clinic, where some 800 people were vaccinated through a partnership with Walmart Pharmacy in the Panzer Athletic Center.

A DJ, an ice cream truck and Rocky were on hand, creating a festive atmosphere as students, employees and members of the community celebrated getting that first jab. Those vaccinated on Tuesday received the Pfizer vaccine and will receive their second dose on Tuesday, May 18.

The University and Walmart are planning additional future vaccination clinics, and the campus community will be notified about those opportunities.

Freshman Amanda Barra said she was a little nervous beforehand about getting the vaccine but afterward felt hopeful. “I hope getting this vaccine means we can all return back to normal life a little sooner.”
